New Dates for the 42nd HSP Gathering Retreat
May 27 – 31, 2027

Dear HSPs,

I’m sorry to share some disappointing news.

As many of you know, one aspect of our HSP trait is depth of processing. Many of us take time to reflect, listen inwardly, and notice what our body and mind are telling us before making important decisions. Over the past few weeks, I’ve been doing exactly that.

With reluctance and disappointment, I’ve decided to postpone the 42nd HSP Gathering Retreat, which was scheduled to be held at Kripalu, September 27–October 1. This decision is primarily due to various family health issues. None are serious, but they have helped me realize that I simply do not have the time or energy needed to plan and host the gathering with the care and attention it deserves. The only other time we have postponed an HSP Gathering Retreat was in 2020 due to Covid.

I know many of you were hoping to attend this year, and my apology is especially extended to those who have been waiting to hear about registration details. Thank you for your understanding and for being part of this HSP Gathering Retreat community for so many years.

I do have good news… The 42nd HSP Gathering is now scheduled for May 27 – 31 , 2027!!  We will be back at one of our favorite retreat places ~ Boyd Mills Retreat Center: https://thebarnatboydsmills.com/  Elaine Aron will join us, as usual,  as our guest speaker.  A registration form will be up and running on my website sometime in mid-to-late summer … You can keep up with updated at my website: jacquelynstrickland.com or by subscribing to my newsletter, HSP Highlights & Insights.

Perhaps this decision, although disappointing to me, is also a small reminder of something many HSPs already know well: sometimes the wisest and most caring choice is to pause, listen inwardly, and honor what our deeper sense tells us.

With care and anticipation,
Jacquelyn

Depth of Processing

Depth of processing is the most basic aspect of our SPS trait, and results in the deep, rich inner life most HSPs experience. Research has shown more brain activation in the prefrontal cortex and in a part of the brain called the insula which has sometimes been referred to as the ‘seat of consciousness.’ This creates the tendency to reflect more than others about the “way the world is going or “the meaning of life.” By integrating information and experiences, from both past and present, the HSP’s unique depth of processing can enable a sense and understanding of longer term consequences and may be able to influence future decisions with more creative and expansive thought.
